Title: tank badges
Post by: Taffyboy on 21 Jan, 2021, 12:52
Are pear shaped A65 tank badges meant to be glued in situ, as mine appears to be?  ???

Hi,
No, although I put some silicone underneath as extra security.

Best wishes...

Is there a rubber piece that fits under the badges to stop them cracking?  I have seen them advertised but they are not shown on the spares catalogue.

Nope, pretty sure glued straight onto the tank. They are not in the best nick ( one cracked. presumably, previous owner tried to remove them also..). Need to replace, obviously don't  want to damage tank

Taffy
I bet the screws have sheared off.  I had a right faff with my A10.  You may need to glue the new ones on.  Make sure you have the new ones before removing the old ones.

Think the A65 had rubbers under them to stop them cracking.

Hi,
Empty tank and vent. Warm the badges with a hairdryer, using fishing line, hook under the badge and work back and forth. Should just fall off  ;)

Best wishes...

Seems like a good idea, Bess. Tank is off and flushed waiting to be lined inside so hairdryer treatment it is tomorrow! Screws came out easily enough.

New badges readily available and I've got the rubbers under mine.
