Title: Petrol tank color scheme, chrome /paint ?
Post by: Captain Mike on 19 Jan, 2021, 16:41
Hi all

I have a black gold flash, and I am wondering what the tank colours should be and whether it should be chrome and Pant or just paint etc,  it has the small painted badges not the newer type

1957 GF plunger
Anybody got any Idea's

Thanks

Mike

If you click on the 'Catalogues' tile on the home page on this site you will see the catalogue images for all models and years. the GF has a Chrome Tank side panels and the metal badges. It also had swinging arm suspension from 1955.
Hope that helps.

The swinging arm frame was in use in 1954. It was used in 1953 for some Gold Stars but the frame was different behind the engine.

Thanks all

I will chase up the tank chrome and pin striping, on another note this bike has been confirmed by the club as a sprung frame from new (Plunger)  looks like BSA wanted to use up all their plunger frames before finally going over to the swinging arm

Cheers

The plungers were kept in the list until 1957 for sidecar use. The swinging arm frames were intended for sidecar use until the 1958 models which were fitted with the sidecar mounting bracket in the pillion loop.

The first A10 swingng arm models left the factory in late 1953.

Thanks that's interesting

I have not had a plunger before so looking forward to see what the ride is like, once I have commissioned the newly rebuilt machine, roll on spring !
by the way I can remember my mate buying a combination road rocket and side car that was running on one cylinder for  fiver in the seventies  !

Cheers
