Hi wonder if anyone can help.I've just fitted twin monobloc 369 carbs to my bike and a Doherty twin pull throttle,I needed cables so contacted Draganfly and ordered two cables part number 68-8692.Cables came and inners seem to be about One and a half inches to long.Re contacted Draganfly who state they are the correct cables.Outer cable is correct length bike has standard USA bars.Stumped all I can think of is to adjust /cut and re solder nipples to fit.Anyone know if I've been sold the correct cables,if not where will I get them. Many thanks Gordon.
I think you have the wrong cables.
68 8692 is for the twin GP carbs fitted to the Spitfire Mk2.
The Hornet with twin monblocs took the same cable as the Lightnings part 68 8678.
Below from the Clarkes Cables catalogue, 1969 issue, you can follow the model to see the part numbers. The last 3 columns for Western bars. Thethird from last column is the outer cable length in inches.
:) :) :) :)
Can't help with your Q but I have a similar problem and when we looked at the nipples they didn't appear to be soldered.
So any ideas about nipple fixing methods. Whether they are heat pressed or some other strange method.

Most new cables have molded solder nipples which just melt when heat applied. Nice and cheap to make no good if you want to modify.
You need to source brass nipples if you want to adjust the length.
I have found a considerable number of cables, noted as "correct" for my Spitfire are the wrong length. What I have been doing is carefully cutting the outer, untwisting it of the cable and then putting the end ferrule back on the cut end.
Seems to work fine with some care but it is a bit annoying that it seems to be needed.
I had a problem with cables from Dragonfly though, as it ended up, it wasn't their fault. I ordered cables for my 1967 A65 Spitfire and what came were clearly wrong. I spoke to a guy at Dragnofly and he went and checked in the parts store and found the cables were in genuine BSA boxes with the correct part number but he recognised that they were not correct. He sent me the correct cables but phoned me 2 days later with the explanation. It turns out that when BSA changed from GP carbs (1966) to Concentric (1967 on) they changed the cables but did not change the part numbers hence the confusion. So the same part number applies to both GP and Concentric type cables.
