What's your opinion of these mufflers for my '68 A65L?
Any good?
Thanx
SteveG
I have a set, not used them yet. I assume they will be somewhat noisy, they are are a straight thru design with a perforated center pipe.
Hi,
I have a pattern silencer on my A65 and it sounds great. Not sure if it is an Emgo but it is now straight through. There is a perforated tube that forms part of the absorption silencing but the perforated disc piece that was across cause localised heating/discolouration so I whacked it out. I think that the original ones were straight through absorption silencers.
Emgo does get reasonable reviews for most of their products.
Dave.
Thanx for the responses.
I see that Feked has silencers that are claimed to be triple chrome plated, made in England, somewhat more expensive.

Does anyone know about the quality, sound ect.?
Thank you

Hi Steve,
Ask Feked who makes the silencers. Brituro are a British company but may not sell direct to he public. I think I can remember talking to a chap many years ago who was involved in this company and there was a connection to the BSA factory. This a number from their Facebook page 0121 356 2228
Dave.
Brituro Silencers are by far the best quality I have seen in recent years. When available, I would go for them every time. They are made in Birmingham so may be using original tooling.
Feked make their own pipes but I'm not sure about the silencers. From what I've seen, they are good quality certainly better than Armours.
I emailed Feked and asked who makes the silencers that I bought from them.
Here's part of the answer I received;
"We make the silencers here ourselves on site,
I can see the fab shop from my desk"
So as soon as I receive them and try them out, I will post my opinion.
Thank you,
SteveG
The mufflers arrived from Feked today.
As promised, here are my observations before installation.
Old muffler-
Left pipe- Basically straight through, with mesh liner torn and flapping around. battery acid burns and road rash underneath.
Right pipe- Better all around condition, mesh liner, solid circular baffle 15" in from end of tailpipe. Chrome dull with age.
New mufflers-
Finish - Very good. Claimed 3 coats of chrome. Time will tell.
Shape- Close to original but not quite as bulbous.
Tail Pipe- 3/4" shorter and very slight less diameter.
Guts- mesh lined, perforated round baffle, about 15" in from end of tailpipe.
General opinion-
Pleased with appearance and fast delivery.
Like the tailpipe diameter that matches the diameter of the header pipe.
3/4" length is no big deal.
Like the perforated circular baffle that should calm down the irritating rasp of the old right muffler.
So far so good.
Will post the all important exhaust tone tomorrow after installation.

Fecked silencers are indeed made on site , by a bloke called Steve a great welder.
They are triple chromed in Wednesbury in the midlands.
I know this because I worked there. The chroming reject rate was probably only one in one hundred and usually it was a very small fault which a lot of silencer companies would let go.
I bought a single (right hand) silencer for my 1965 A65 lightning (clubman build...ish) from British M/C Parts around 4 months ago.
Unfortunately the front pipe (on the silencer) was too short, which meant the kickstart fouled the silencer. Also, the supporting bracket was about 3 inches to far rearwards, so couldn't be used.
I contacted William of British M/C Parts who had the appropriate silencer built and sent off to be polished and chromed.... and, due to Covid, is languishing there still.
I believe that they are Bradford based but the polishing/chroming is done in Wednesbury....... I wonder if it is the same place you mentioned.....
