Title: tank sealants
Post by: Taffyboy on 11 Jan, 2021, 14:40
How clean has a tank inside got to be deemed before I can coat it with a suitable sealer? can it go on top of surface rust? I swilled the tank out a couple of months ago, using 40% acetic acid and water. Loads of shite come out when I swilled it out. Been in spare bedroom ever since (the tank, not me..) has gained a rusty film

Hi,

The tank must be very clean or the sealant may not stick properly.  Usually there is a kit that will have the appropriate rust remover, cleaner and metal prep for the sealant being used.  If you get a kit then you can be assured of having the correct cleaner etc.
There are few threads about tank sealants so if you do a search you will find more information/discussion about it.
