Title: Frame Numbers
Post by: leecee on 10 Jan, 2021, 21:52
Good evening all,

I'm trying to date my new (to me) BSA for V55 (Canadian import), but the frame number is very faint, I can just about make out GA7 but it is very faint - is there a way of confirming if frame number has been registered before? (Wouldn't want to submit duplicate request)
Engine number is DA10R

Do you have a NOVA for it? The importer would usually provide one and that needs to include the VIN - i.e. the frame number for bikes.

Cheers,
Bernie

Hi Bernie - the clearance documentation states A7.8699 which from checking I don't think is correct (posted on here before they were shipped and most concurred it was missing a letter)

Try rubbing some chalk or solvol or something white over the frame number area then wipe off the excess and you may be able to see it.

If not then carefully remove the paint and see what is revealed. As you say it is faint then paint stripped rather than abrasives

NOVA documents do sometimes have mistakes and HMRC might ammend if the mistake is minor.

The number stamped on the frame is what is important, without it the bike cannot be identifed.

Do you have the Canadian title document?
