Part No. is 57-4008. Try Kidderminster Motorcycles 01562 66679 they usually carry stock of most parts for the later OIF models.

Have you tried C & D autos?

I'm asking British only in the US if they have any specifically, of the late eccentric versions. I will let you know what they say. They certainly list the part number at $2 each new. I have found them really good in the past for hard to get parts.
Cheers

Does any body know A. how much of an improvement this eccentric spring cup made and B. if the drawing and or tool for making it is about somewhere?

Hi,

I have one of these cups on one of my A65s and it does make it easier to get the spring pressure even and so make gear changes better. It also has two little notches to facilitate turning it.  The alternative, if a spring has a bias, is to bend the spring.
I currently have mine off the bike so I will take a photo of it with a ruler/tape.  I think a standard one could be modified by brazing on an offset washer and removing the overlap

Dave.

Hi,

Here is a photo of the spring cup.  I hope it is clear enough.  I would think that the exact amount of offset is not that important so long as the hole is off centre to allow a bit of eccentric adjustment.  It looks like about 3mm with enough room to get a socket on the nut that holds it all in place.

British Only in the USA have mentioned an alternative part number 60-3861. I can't find any mention of this number (A70?) but British Only are normally pretty good. I have asked if they have any of this new part number.
Cheers

60 3861 is the tool to adjust the eccentric cup.

Also note what the service bulletin says about the revised cup retaining the original part number - so 2 different cups same part number.

Baxter's cycle in the USA www.baxterscycle.com have some of the original concentric ones at $14 if anybody is interested.
Looking at the photo of the eccentric one if I could get hold of one we might be able to reverse engineer one. It would be possible to machine them, might be a little heavier. We could take one to a press shop and see what the cost of a tool would be although that might be a bit expensive depending on how many you wanted to produce.

Dave Brady where are you located? I'm in Worcester no chance of borrowing that one to do a drawing of is there?

Hi,

I am in North Lincs.  but will be putting it back on the bike soon.    The only difference is the two notches for turning it and the off centre hole so probably not too difficult using a concentric one as a a starting point.
I think I may have another cup somewhere but I am not sure if it is an eccentric one.  I will have look tomorrow and let you know.

Dave.

Hi,

Unfortunately I do not have another one. In fact I do not even have another concentric one.  To be honest although the eccentric cup makes getting the gear change spot on easier, my other A65 with a concentric cup is good as well.  I tried the spring both ways up and one way was better than the other.   I think that, as has been mentioned, a washer brazed on off centre by a few mm and the hole opened up would do the job.
I could take a few more photos if you wish.

Dave.

Thanks for looking Dave I've got a few more irons in the fire on this although to be honest it doesn't look too positive. I would have thought someone would have known were the drawings are or at least if they have been destroyed or not. I've got access to a concentric one so I can get the basic dimensions from that and I will use your photo to estimate the off set and machine something just to try it.

Hi,

I did bit of digging and the conclusion seems to be that as this was a late modification and not long before the factory closed there would have not have been many if any made for the spares supply market.
