Hi All. I'm struggling to find a direct replacement of a pre-war high level silencer so am finally thinking that I will need to fabricate something myself. I would like to see an example of the silencer mounting system, from what I can see in the parts books, the silencer appears to have a spacer tube mounting that passes through the large part of the silencer, close to the bottom, this is fixed onto a stud that's attached to the frame, also incorporating the fixing for the rear guard stays. I've considered using 'P' clips to secure the silencer but nothing seems to come right height wise.
So, can any of our knowledgeable members send me a clear close up photo showing the spacer tube in the silencer or does anyone have a knackered old silencer that would act as a pattern that I could buy or borrow?
Many Thanks in anticipation.
Pete
Have you tried Armours in Bournemouth?
Cheers,
Bernie
Hi Bernie.
Yes. I have been in contact with Armours, the only help they can offer is an 'off the shelf' universal silencer or copying an original example if I can obtain one. I'm thinking of buying an un-chromed silencer from them and sorting my own mounting sleeve before having it chromed but a photo or two would be really helpful. Thanks, Pete
