Title: stanchion nuts
Post by: Taffyboy on 28 Dec, 2020, 17:39
Hi all. Hope you all had a good xmas!
Just a quick heads up. Whilst meandering around my local b&m store, there in the tool section was a Rolson Wide opening adjustable spanner, about 8" long. Just happens it fits the top stanchion nuts on my a65. Also a bargain at £6!   8)

Sounds like a result!

Now if they also had a vice that could grip the fork stanchions tight enough to let me unscrew the end bolt so I can slide the bushes off that would be a bonus!!!!
Been wresting for hours today with no success!

Cheers,
Bernie

 :) :)

Have you tried a wrap of thin aluminium sheet around the stanchion prior to putting it in the vice.or even a piece of wood.

Just had a brain wave that might be worth considering. Clamp the shafts back up into the fork yoke clamps and bolt em up tight dont think that will be too much of a problem with no springs to contend with and they certainly shouldn't rotate.
