At long last the 1947 B31 is complete, now I need to sort the paperwork out for a registration
That looks lovely!
Smashing.
Lovely, a lot of effort duly rewarded!
Dennis49, I am sure when I strarted out you sent me some pictures of your B31? I was having trouble with the engine/gearbox plates, the bloke I bought the frame off sold me a pair of plates which were similar but didn't have the slight waisting in to 2". He also sold me a petrol tank which turned out to be C12, well you think it looks right ah ah ah, we got there in the end.
Nice bit of work Sideways, a real credit to you. Enjoy your rides together.
Really nice bike sidewaysid , I think the tank looks great. Wishing you a safe and fun riding season ahead.....wayne
Hi Sidewaysid, the B31 looks great!
I'm in the process of rebuilding a 1949 rigid B31 too. I think they have an iconic look specific to the era. My bike though will not achieve such a polished finish as I prefer the old patina. I'm still in process but getting closer to getting it back running. I have a question but I'll start a new thread.
Pete.
Very nice. And congratulations.
I've a 1946 myself which I'm slowly working on. Unfortunately after years of neglect standing in the rain, it's in very bad shape. So I'm searching for an engine and gearbox to replace mine or salvage for parts. Mine could be brought back to life, but the expense in buying almost every single part separately just doesn't make sense.
Be nice when the sun comes out to take a ride on it Sidewaysid.
Thanks for all the kind comments, I wasn't heading for such a well-presented bike, just something to ride, it just sort of ended up like it is, it began with me getting let down on a frame from an idiot in Blackpool, I had picked up some engine parts from an ex-racer who lives near Prescott Lancs, he was very helpful, I found a frame with forks, had the frame stoved and the process began, I would say the bloody gearbox was the biggest headache, but I think some guy on here sent me a set of prints showing where each gear should be when selected, whoever it was thank you (still have them if anyone needs help) hoping for a nice summer to get out on her.
