Title: C25 / B25 Barracuda - Low compression Fleetstar piston option - Advice please.
Post by: TonyP on 26 Dec, 2020, 10:47
Having carefully rebuilt my C25 - Or so I thought, I should have looked more carefully at the piston - or been even more careful in replacing it onto the little end.  Who knows.  I lost compression on first run out with a hairline piston crack from gaugeon pin (timing side) running up over the crown - where it popped the top! I have decided to lower the compression ratio on rebuild and would prefer to take the L.C. piston route as opposed to a barrel spacer and a new Barracuda piston at 10:1, as then I can retain existing distances for push rod length and valve adjustment. Can anyone suggest a supplier of  the Fleetstar piston (8.5 :1 compression ratio)?  +40 thou needed in my case, the bare piston is BSA number 71-1956 and complete piston set thus 71-1955. Many thanks.
