Title: Re: B31 gearbox bushes
Post by: Bess on 23 Dec, 2020, 13:25
Hi,
Has anyone purchased the bushes as the image and fitted them? If so did you need to ream them afterwards or were they okay to use without further fettling?

Thanks...

Done this a couple of times and only needed to ream the mainshaft sleeve gear bush once (depends on wear on the mainshaft).

I did have to make up shims to go behind the layshaft bush to get the end float OK.

I think the answer is, as always, measure everything to make sure. Clearance on the mainshaft bush should be 1.5 to 3.5 thou and if it is not pre-drilled you will have to do that.

cheers
Pete

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the reply, a little reassuring. I will purchase a set and have a go.

Best wishes...
