Title: Re: B31 gearbox question.
Post by: Bess on 08 Dec, 2020, 18:11
Hi,
Does anyone know if a 1946-48 gearbox is compatible with a 1953 plunger frame and engine?

Many thanks...

Certainly the mounting plates are different for the 46-48 box.

The mounting boss on the 1946-48 box is 2 inch and the others are 2.5 inch.
I have recently posted on this on the WM20 forum http://pub37.bravenet.com/forum/static/show.php?usernum=3155626639&frmid=16&msgid=1438450&cmd=show
The later boxes are more robust and easier to find parts for. I would sell the 46-48 and get the standard box myself (and you will probably have some cash left over!)
cheers
Pete

Hi,
If you are thinking of selling the 1946-48 gearbox, I'm looking for one.
