How do I secure cables that run on the underside of the rear mudguard on my M33? There's a clip near where the cables dive through the mudguard to reach the back of the rear light, but that's it. The result of course is that the tyre has worn through one of the cables. There are no cable clips that I can see.
My mudguard has a broken hinge, and the mudguard is secured with a plate bolted to both halves. Is the rear of the mudguard supposed to be detachable when hinges up, or does it just hinge? I need to consider how to run the cables, to allow for getting the hinge fixed in the future.
Hi,
The usual method on original mudguards is small pieces of metal strips bridging the rib in the middle of the mudguard. The wire then sits in the rib the strips holding it in place.
When all else fails I have used these with great success:

A hot glue gun works wonders if nothing else is available.

I did wonder if that's what the rib is for, but there are no metal strips to be seen. I'll splash out on those clips at the link. Thanks.
Hi I simply held mine in place with some silicone. secure wire with tape and then ran a bead of silicone over the wire , or a few blobs . let it dry overnight remove the tape. mines been like that for last two years. I used clear, toolstation or screwfix
Tried the clips they kept coming loose

AFAIK the plunger rear mudguard was hinged to allow easy removal of the rear wheel.. The rigid framed bikes had a removable rear piece for the same job. HTH
My plunger has a hinged rear guard. My wiring is clipped to the underside with stainless P-clips which are actually bolted through the mud guard itself with small stainless machine screws. The purists may scoff, but it's safely and securely attached, and I don't think they look that bad to be honest!

I did consider this method but in the end I bought some of the stick on clips that Bess mentioned. Haven't actually fitted them, yet. I fixed the cable temporarily but I haven't been in the shed for ages. I hope to be in there tomorrow!

I used the stick on self-adhesive clips but they fell right back off without the bike having moved one inch, so I put a blob of silicon onto the pad and now they are very firm
Hi,
I don't know whether it makes a difference, have stainless mudguard's and ensured the surfaces were degreased before application.
Best wishes...
Mine are painted, and the paint is in good condition. But I suspect removing the road dirt first might be a plan... :)
