Title: BSA B33 fuel tank tap sealing
Post by: Barriball on 31 Oct, 2020, 18:48
Hi.

Can anyone help.

I am about to replace the bushes and taps back into my tank. Both were leaking when bought so want to get it right .

1/ Should I use copper or fiber washers or both.

2/ Use Locktite on threads, or PTFE tape.

3/ I  have copper and fiber, but the closest for size is a little to large or small. Would it be best to use the smaller and file out.

Barry.

I suggest Dowty viton washers and PTFE tape on the tank to tap joint/thread. Thats what I have used for a long time with no leaks.

Leaks from the tap is a different problem.

Thanks.

Just ordered them. I thought that PTFE may dissolve with petrol.

White PTFE tape goes transparent when petrol touches it, but it works fine.
