Hi, i'm Hoping someone can help me. I have a B33 in bits. I didn't strip it and I'm having some issues getting it back together. The bike came with full width alloy hubs. I have a long 3/4 width 1" spindle. The shorter spindle is incorrect and have ordered what is hopefully the correct one. Both bearings are 2 1/4" external 1" internal. The hub has a bearing pressed into each side. The brake drum side has a bearing retainer ring. The other side is just pressed in with no retainer. The BSA diagram suggests the second bearing should House in the sprocket, but as they are circa 57 Ariel wheels on a 54 bsa i'm Not sure how much trust I should put in the diagram? I guess my questions are:
Is the second bearing in the correct place?
Am I missing a third bearing, housed in the sprocket which I know some arrangements had?
Does anyone have this type of arrangement and can assist with a drawing or photo?
Any help much appreciated.
This cross section of the hubs should help, from the factory service sheets.
The 1956/57 Ariel hubs and cross over shaft brake operation are not compatible with the 1954 type swinging arm.
Many thanks. Very useful.
Hi,
Is the problem with the width of the swing arm? It measures 7 inches. Does anyone know the width of the later swing arm?
