Quiet Exhaust Project.
« on: 31 May, 2020, 18:18:57 »
I am building a 250 green laner. I have diverted the pipe from the head through the frame. The pipe has a 38 mm O/S diameter. I fitted a small chrome shortie silencer. I might as well have a straight through pipe. Absolutely far too loud for me and anyone else within a mile. Looked on Ebay, mostly cheap straight through rubbish. Can someone on here direct to me to a shortish silencer that works.
Many thanks and keep safe.

Hi,
    Have you tried Armours website, they have short versions of standard pipes that work well, this one worked well for me:

Best wishes...

How about a DB killer? SImple and cheap tube that slips in the end of the silencer. I found it possible to tune it to whatever volume/note you want.

Been looking at those this afternoon. Just drill a hole and bolt in with putty I assume ?

Ive got the down pipes on the Triumph and have VW beetle silencers fitted. they do cut the noise down and give a bit of a twitter, no bigger in diameter than the pipes and around 8 inches long.

Didn't find the need for any putty, only to drill one small hole in the tailpipe (round the back so out of sight) for the self taper to secure it. If you think it's too quiet you shorten it a bit until you get the right "loudness". I straigntened out some tags to alter the tone. Very happy with it.

Tried a DB killer on A10 with 2 into one, quieter but also killed the power engine did not want to rev with it fitted.

Armours list a mutes in various sizes not tried one;

I tried a dB killer on my b40. I fitted a new pattern exhaust which was very loud. Found the dB killer a waste of money for my exhaust. Perhaps they work better with different exhausts.
