"Pebble" stamped on a BSA ('54 B33)
« on: 03 May, 2020, 08:49:50 »
Dear All,
This is an odd post so apologies for taking people's time..
I've owned my B33 for quite a few years now but one thing has always puzzled me.. Both the top of the gearbox  and engine (on the crankcase, just below the pushrod tower) are very neatly stamped with the word "PEBBLE". It was done by someone who clearly knew how to use the tools..
When I first got the bike I tried the Gold Star Owners in case it was a known tuner, I didn't get a reply...

So, after all this time I thought I'd ask here.. Someone at some time was pleased enough to go to this amount of trouble & I often wondered if it was a kind of "trade mark"..

Any ideas?

Thanks

Adrian

Maybe it was just a security thing, in case the bike was stolen, It would be a little awkward trying to sell something with the blokes name on it, that's my theory anyway.

Thanks John,
A good idea, I hadn't thought of that..  He did it very neatly so his bike was obviously a matter of pride !

Cheers,
