cotter pins
« on: 14 February, 2020, 10:10:38 »
 :) :) :)Hi.
I've just re-read the posts about cotter pins. Must admit that for a long time I put mine in the "wrong way". Cos it was easiest and that they wouldn't drop out if the nut came off.

Then I thought that I had never heard of a sump plug falling out of a car engine so why should the nut come off. So I thought that I needed a simple tool to remove them without mangling the thread.

Simple. This is an odd piece of 5/8 bar with an 8mm hole in the end. I would have used 1/2" but didn't have a bit lying around. Simple.

Nice one Mike - always interested in homemade fixes. My issue with cotter pins are that they always seem to be fractionally undersize these days. I'm probably going to make my own now.
Bantam - Needing Rescuing
B40 - Work in progress
B44 Trail - sort of finished
B44 Road - In Progress
A65 Thunderbolt - Always the next one to do!
