A10 Side Stand

Why were the saddles for the side stand brazed to the frame (1958 GF)? Was it the technology at the time and can I mig it on?

Hi Willie,
A couple of reasons I can think of, the saddle and frame are classed as dissimilar metals making a failure likely. Fusion welds are stronger than the parent materials so a failure will likely damage the frame.

Best wishes...

Mine was braised on my early 1954 S/arm A10 at some point in it's life.

Yeh JWO, I think they were brazed on at the factory.
