Rear brake
« on: 23 June, 2019, 15:07:03 »
I am new to BSA machines so forgive me if this is a stupid question (sorry guys but have only worked on Triumphs & Nortons)
I have acquired what appears to be a bitsa comprising of a A65D engine which I assume is a Lightning Rocket in a rolling chassis. The rear brake lever is on the right hand side and it looks like the linkage to the rear brake pedal is through the frame. Can anyone advise me what the frame is. There appears to be frame numbers on the right hand engine mounting lug but finding it difficult to read them clearly at the moment. Any advice please is most welcome.

A photo would help.

A Lightning Rocket frame would commence A50B and has the brake on the left or sprocket side.

If the brake is on the opposite side (would be full width hub) then the frame is A50 or A65 Star or Thunderbolt Rocket, and would commence A50, no B.
