A65 fork circlips
« on: 15 April, 2019, 19:25:41 »
 :) :)

Greetings. On many occasions in the past I have fitted new fork bushes and the retaining circlips. For some unknown (Age and strength ???????) I am having serious problems putting a set in.

So anyone with a special method "kissa clue" or is there a tool available to do the job. I dont really want the trouble of maching something if its already out there.

Advice please.

Mike - Apparently there was a batch of circlips made fairly recently where the wire used was too large diameter and did not fit properly in the recess. Sometimes you may find a top bush which has the top lip a bit too thick preventing the circlip from entering its recess.

The 1966 on damper rod forks dont use a circlip and have a much easier setup with a widget (photo below) between bush and oil seal.

You canuse the widget on earlier forks. Saves all the stress of removing and replacing the circlip.

Hi Julian. Thanks for that. I shall look for them and give it a go.
