bsa c15 crankshaft
« on: 24 March, 2019, 12:09:39 »
I recently bought a c15 which I thought would be a straight forward job to get back on the road....
But I have come across a few problems. One is the crankshaft is slightly bent on the alternator side.
The alternator rotor wobbles and catches on the stator. Can anybody recommend a company that could
repair it?

It may well be the rotor at fault, not the shaft. Remove the rotor first and then check your crankshaft. This could be done with a simple wire pointer fixed under a suitable nut or screw on the engine and bent to just touch the shaft on a machined section. Rotate the engine and visually check that reference point, rather than watching the rotor. Rotors can easily get damaged and centres can become loose too. Look for any internal damage to the rotor and similarly to the shaft, keys and keyways that may affect its true concentric fitting.
