Top gearbox mount bolt
« on: 25 February, 2019, 10:21:40 »
Hello all, Iím very new here and have only owned my plunger a10 for just over a week so not really that well acquainted yet. Went out for a short run yesterday in the sunshine. While I was out changing down the box felt a little more clunky than last time ( could just be me though) but when I got back, as  I was cleaning the dust off, I noticed that a bolt attaching the top lug on the gearbox to the rear frame  down tube was hanging out with no nut on it.
Does anyone know what size this is and am I ok to just push the bolt back through and whack it up again or should there be a specific washer or other fitting between??
Thanks in advance
Jase

Hi,
    The bolt is 7/16" 20 tpi CEI,  2 1/8" long, nut is 7/16" 20 tpi CEI. https://www.draganfly.co.uk/index.php/accessories-a-misc/product/4284-

It was originally assembled with a lone spring washer under the nut.

Best wishes...

I decided to clean the thread up on this with a CEI die.
Ran it down the bolt, felt a bit stiff.
Then realised that as an idiot I'd used a 26 tpi die.
New bolt.

Hi Minto,
Thanks for the feedback and I would like to take full credit but some is from experience/memory the rest is from reference books.

My rigid and plunger builds, sold now  :(

Both stunning, Iíve always loved the lines of the rigid A10 but not sure my back could stand no suspension, hence the plunger purchase.
You have any recommendations for books/workshop manuals?

Hi Minto,
I use the original BSA services in conjunction with the typed service sheets in the BSAOC members area.

Here's a link for the originals:

Best wishes...
