BSA Twin Alloy Barrel 500 /650
« on: 15 December, 2018, 14:30:16 »
Hi fellow Bsa owners , got fed up trying to get a decent barrel for my 650 twin , thick flange etc etc ! So Ive made my own ,with a 18mm flange !!  in alloy ,the first pics are the first barrel out of the mould , rough but lovely !! I am writing the Cnc program for it now , as I did to make the cylinder casting patterns . My aim is to get my twin just a little more reliable , lighter !! And quicker ofcourse .I am also making a twin carb alloy head for it to.The casting patterns are now finished and the first sand cast forms are made .Its all getting rather exciting at last . Been on this for a while now .Will send more pics as it comes together .

Hi Eddie , going for liners on the first set ,650cc , then 750 .Once Ive done some miles on them I will be making as few sets a few people are interested and have contacted me . I hope the twin carb alloy head comes out as good ,and shed a few pounds at the same time . As for the pistons I will use American JRs ,better quality and price .And the followers standard at first so the other guys can use the followers they already have , saves a few bob .Then I will sort out the followers .   Will keep you in posted on my progress.

Yes Im looking at various liners and pistons at the moment . These JE pistons are looking good and if the price is right I will use them .

The first rough sandcasting cores are now being refined and blended ! 35mm inlets at first then bigger for the planned 750 engine .
