A10 - Wheel rebuilds
« on: 25 April, 2018, 18:45:46 »
Hi,
I have a front full width cast iron 8 inch hub and a rear full width cast iron hub to build. Can anyone tell me if any are the offsets and the spoke sizes.

Many thanks....

Hi Bess, I measured the offset before stripping the old rims and spokes if you only have the hubs someone on here may be able to help if you have the machine details, the rim size may make a difference to the spoke size, Devon rim co may be able to help, good luck.

Hi,
I only have the hubs and the rims will be standard but in stainless.

Thanks...

I'm sure Central Wheel Components will have the data - just give them a ring.

Devon Rims will supply the correct spokes. See eBay, they are listed on there. I am pretty sure there is no offset front or back.

The iron full width hubs with all straight pull spokes (not the A65 type with verticle flange) are built centre of rim to centre of hub. Mine are built with 8/10 butted spokes.

Hi, I asked around quite a lot when I started the project and Devon rims came out on top, I'm taking my hubs down next weekend ( making a long weekend of it) as long as I get the rear assembled in time, having a bit of trouble, it's all ok until I tightened the sprocket nuts the last turn the spindle then goes pretty tight, have another go the weekend.

My A10 has had Devon stainless rims the last 6 years. Very good quality no problems encountered with them.

Hi Mitchell,
Have you tried removing and rotating the sprocket one stud at a time to check if a different position gives the results you're looking for?

Thanks again all, for the recommendations  :)

Best wishes...

Hi Bess, tried moving the sprocket round all positions have the same problem, tried a few different things then tried leaving out the outer sleeve and it tightened up ok, I think the sprocket side bearing may be the problem it measures approximately 16 mm wide whereas the brake side measures 14mm , off to c&d in the morning to check the sizes, I suppose I could always cut a couple of mil of the sleeve if necessary, cheers, Dave.
