C15 Valve Guide
« on: 04 April, 2018, 23:07:05 »
Hi  I am carrying out a top end rebuild on my C15 and have found the exhaust valve guide is loose in the head, is it possible to obtain an oversize guide and have it fitted and the seat recut or is it better to look for another head and start again. Many thanks Tom.

You can get +5 and +10 thou oversize from Dragonfly but they might need to be ordered. Normally, I take heads to my local engineering firm to get valve guides replaced and seats machined at a reasonable cost.

If a guide has come loose in the head it is probable that there will be some damage to its housing - the bore may no longer be parallel and circular. So an oversized guide still may not fit properly.

The engineering solution suggested by AJWD is by far the best solution.
