BSA M20 Engine No
« on: 02 March, 2017, 10:04:02 »
Hi ..

I have a query regarding M20 engine No's.

My WM20 engine No as stamped on it is: -  WM20 B190MS10033   This does not make sense to me (or to anyone else at this stage)so any help would be great.  The frame No is WM20 110933  which the Military Museum tells me is 1944 .

Mike :)

Mike.

I believe it signifies that the army replaced the original engine and then typed their own serial number on it starting with B. This was not uncommon for the WM20.

 Hi Arthur

Thanks for that. I thought it might just be that simple but knowing makes a difference.

On a completely different note. I just realised that I cannot recall ever seeing a "Dandy";
so would there be any chance of 'viewing' yours one day?

Thanks agen

Mike

Next time you're near Oxford, I'll be only too happy to show you my Dandy! You might also be interested in my ex-army bikes.

Is the engine number stamped all on the same line or is it split level. Seems quite long to be stamped in the usual place behind the breather unless split level?

Good morning.

Hi Arthur. That would be bril. I;m always interested in any Beesa and others of course. So I'd love to take you up on that.

Hi Julian, Yes its in a straight line. Of course I know what the alternative is.

Thanks to you both again.

Mike

 :)H i
Follow up to my last. I 've been in touch with Mr Foden and this No is a stranger to him as well.
According to the only picture that I have mine appears to be in the wrong place anyway. He explained where to find it but I certainly can't see it.

I really should be much obliged if one of you kind gents would take a pic of the "proper" place so that I can scrape the paint off and maybe find it. .Either post here or to my inbox

Thank you

Mike
