DVLA NEW OWNER
« on: 27 February, 2018, 14:31:30 »
I acquired a 1959 M21 last December and snt of the log book for a change of owner ,six weeks later nothing ,so i emailed them ,automatic reply . Early January phoned them :don't worry its normal they said .
Mid Jan just contacting previous owner ,He is probably dead i said this bike has been in storage in bits for 20 odd years and last owner was in Birmingham in the 1970 .Dont worry they said .Phoned again in early Feb ,:Its under investigation they said , Why i said , somebody has taxed  it ? .
We both have the same Reg .
So after sending pictures of rebuild etc  they are now going to decide who has the Reg WLN228 .

Presumably, your frame and engine numbers match what's on the V5C? Provided it is recorded on the V5C as being first registered in 1959 then your reg and frame and engine numbers must all relate back to when it was first registered? If so, it must mean your bike is legit I would have thought?

After spending 10 months DVLA failed to issue a V5C for my C15, I purchased a frame with a V5C last Wednesday, did the transfer on line and a new V5C in my name arrived today 3 days!!

Makes you wonder, why one takes 10 months - and nothing, and another takes 3 days including posting. For most people, it will be one or the other experience, on the first I was slagging off the DVLA, on the other I would have to sing there praises.

Same organisation - very different experience!!

I think the difference was that the V5C transfer was done by a computer and the other involved human intervention at DVLA which is usually when things go horribly wrong.

Forgot to ask: what did you think of Owens Motorcycles in Wrexham?
