Cables
« on: 20 January, 2018, 11:04:36 »
Iím looking to buy a few new cables (brake, clutch and throttle) I hear lots of people talking about Venhill cables. They seem quite expensive. I donít mind paying out if they are worth it?  Or can anyone recommend a good company?
I would like to learn how to make my own one day, I have never done it before.
Many thanks.

Generally, I find all the Bowden cables available are very similar quality and the main difference is the design of the outer conduit. The best are stainless and have PTFE liner for low friction of the inner cable. Cheaper cables may be unlined. The main problem I've found in the past is with cables made to incorrect dimensions.

I got my non standard A10 clutch and brake cables from a company called Cable Tech in Sutton in Ashfield near Mansfield Nottinghamshire. They were very reasonably priced and work well. Hope this helps.

I've used JJ Cables near Warwick for bespoke cables in the past - obviously you pay extra for these. Nowadays, I make up my own bespoke cables but you ideally need the correct tooling to create the birdcage on the inner cable for each nipple, as well as the correct soldering equipment.
