Here's a straightforward query for a Sunday afternoon.
My 51 rigid B31 has no oil level transfer on its tank. I'm going to put a new transfer on, but I would love to know (ideally factory) measurements for correct positioning.
With thanks in advance for helpful replies!

Edit.....I realise the title ought to say "minimum oil level" .....

Some BSA said "Oil Level" and the transfer was about 1½"below the gas of the filler neck. Others, like the rigid and plumber models had a "Minimun Oil Level" transfer. I've placed mine about one third of the way down the tank.
The one in this pic is about there.

I agree with Derek that the transfer was 'Minimum Oil Level' for rigid and plunger models which was placed roughly between a third to a half way below top of tank. In addition, if you need to fit a BSA Garter transfer on the toolbox, this was 'BSA Cycles Ltd' up to 1953 then 'BSA Motorcycles Ltd' from 1953.
