DAVE BRADY

#15
Hi,

Turn the lever to 'pull' the cable in effect winding it around the lever.  You will feel slight resistance as the choke slide has a spring in it.  The lever provides some friction so that the choke remains open.  Check that there is some friction otherwise the choke may close once the engine is running.

I always thought engines were supposed to "pull" when accelerating?
Do you mean it pulls and then doesn't pull, in quick succession? Can you give us a more descriptive detail of the problem?
Are you sufficiently knowledgeable to identify a misfire? You say it's like a misfire, so it probably is a misfire.
Can you give more details on "adjusting" the choke? I assume you mean putting the choke on? So how much and at what throttle opening?
However, remember that if for example, the engine is running with half throttle, the choke will have no effect until the choke slide is below the bottom face of the slide.
If putting the choke on cures the problem, it indicates a weak mixture. Try raising the needle by 1 position and see what happens.

hi everyone, really appreciate the help, and sorry for my late replies, have major issue with back and waiting for an operation, pain is killing me, so not able to work on bike as much as I would like, I have changed the Coil, felt better but still Pulls when I accelerate, this is like having Kangeroo juice in the tank, but I no the Fuel and all that's OK, the Carb appears to be working correctly, really think I need to get someone in to have a look, as my skill level is clearly not good enough.

Is the charging sytem giving you  12v minimum at the battery when revved. Many electronic ignitions do not function properly if they are not getting 12volts plus.
