Hi again everyone the Goldie virgin here I have given both of my wheels to the builder for rebuilding new rims spokes etc and he has rung me saying the front wheel is a WMI and he believes it should be a WM2 what do I want him to do as WM1 he will have difficulty obtaining and suggests I go with WM2 front and rear, the tyre size on the front is 325x19 on the rear the markings are a bit confusing to me but this is how it reads 100/90 H19 410H19, the bike was apparently a track bike for the first 10 years of its life but I doubt these are the same tyres as was used or at least I hope not but the rims could well be from those days anyway will using WM2's give me me any problems and are these tyre sizes correct for the bike as these are in quite good nick certainly look much newer than the rims many thanks Chris

my front tyre is a 350 x 19 i think the rims changed from wm1 to wm2 when the tyre size went to 19 inch . Rear is 410 x 19 so mine must be wm2 rims . They are a spanish alloy rim .

Change the rim to wm2. Although you can fit a 3.25 on a wm1 it will push in the sides force up the tread giving you a smaller contact area on the road.

WM1 is Bantam-sized rather than Goldie-sized!

WM1 is the correct rim for a Gold Star, fitted with a 300 x 19" tyre. The rear uses a WM2 with a 350 x 19" tyre. WM1 rims are readily available from Central Wheel Components and the Devon Rim Company
