I have a 1953 B33 and I am writing to enquire if anyone can share any advice, experiences, and lessons learnt about replacing the gear-side and drive-side engine shafts that are riveted to the flywheels.

I have a replacement OEM gear-side engine shaft (65-1129) and drive-side engine shaft (65-1128) and the rivets (27-1239) and the 2 original flywheels are in good condition.

Before attempting this work I would be pleased to hear from anyone that could provide any advice.

I also assume that after fitting the new engine shafts to the flywheels the completed assemblies should be "balanced" prior to reassembling the engine and can anyone please provide any "balancing" recommendations.

Any advice anyone could provide would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

As long as you use the same weight of rivets as you remove, I would think that the balance should not be affected.   Are you going to heat the rivets, or just form them cold..?
More important is to make sure the shafts are True..  Set the flywheels up on a stand, or Lathe,  and check for any run-out with a Dial Test Indicator.
