Good evening as our members  are all from different walks of life i wonder if anyone knows how to remove protective coatings from spectacles, i prefer my old ones to my new ones but the coating is fogging up the lenses , hope someone can help. Roy

You have to be careful not to distort the optical correctness of the lens, so best to speak to your opticians. Perhaps there's a better way to prevent the fogging?

Hi Roy,

My wife's glasses went a bit funny with the coating going foggy.  The optician said that they must have been subjected to great heat like being left on a dashboard in a heat wave.  We said that had not happened to these and after the optician spoke to manager we were offered a cut price on new lenses.  However, we said "can we see the manager, please".  The response from the manager this time was that the lenses would be replaced free of charge.
I suspect that there had been a problem with the coating application and it had nothing to do with the use they had.
Moral of the story is to stand your ground a d get the best result you can.  Well, it worked at Specsavers.
