My A50 was weeping fork oil - which turned out to be dodgy fibre washers on the drain plugs. These are now replaced by dowty washers. 150ml of oil came out from one leg and 170ml from the other. (I don't know what oil I had in the forks for the past ten years or so.)

I put 190ml of Motul Fork oil expert 20W in each leg after changing the drain plug seals - and that has made the suspension harsh - I really feel every bump.  Should I change the oil to 10W?   Or would having less oil in make a difference?

What year A50 is it? And does it have damper rods, shuttle valves or neither?

Never use less oil than is required. 20w should be fine unless the forks are also binding? You'll could try a 15 or a 10wt oil. You might find 10wt is the complete opposite however and feel like a pogo stick.

Before you do change it. Slacken the spindles slightly and pump the forks as hard as you can with the brake on. This will centralise the legs on the spindle.
