Hello

According to the parts book I have, there should be a rubber seal fitted at the lower end of each push rod tube. My engine doesn't seem to have these fitted. Part number 29-232. The outer tube move around and I get a bit of oil coming out of there. I know it's a total loss system, but I wondered if oil is getting everywhere it should without the seals fitted.

Has anyone here sourced these parts or something similar that works, or have pictures of what they look like? I have ordered some sheets of nitrile rubber to make my own as I'm sure they're just thin rubber discs, but wanted to check here beforehand.

Many thanks

I'm sure there must be suitable size O rings available. Ron

Well, I use BMC Mini Rocker Cover Bolt Seals, Part No 12A 1358.
I cut off the reduced diameter bit, chamfer the top slightly to fit the flare on the push rod tubes and cut a flat on the OD to clear the barrel.
Have a look at them and see what you think. They're about the right thickness i.e quite thick.

Thanks very much, that's very helpful. I've ordered a set. They were fairly cheap, so worth a go.

I ordered the seals suggested by Steve and they arrived Friday, surprisingly quickly, for just under £2 posted. As well as doing the above, I had to open up the hole and take a bit more out of the height of the seal, but they fitted  well and do the job great. Many thanks again.
