Hi,

We just got home yesterday.  The bad weather forecast for Norway meant that after the rally we headed back to Gothenburg for the ferry to Denmark.  We knew that the weather would improve as we headed south but had to endure strong winds and torrential rain for a few days to get there.  Eventually the weather improved as did our mood and enjoyment of the smaller roads that we prefer to use.  This can result in more miles covered and time used up but ultimately more enjoyable than motorways and busy main roads as there is time to appreciate the landscape and architectural variations.  Smiles and waves can be returned to those who know we are on old bikes or are just pleased to see us passing through.  Eventually we spent a few nights in Arnhem before heading for an earlier and more expensive ferry home.
Another advantage of using the smaller roads is that the bikes are never working too hard resulting in amazing fuel and oil economy.
Door to door we covered 2670 miles so 5340 between the two bikes with only 2.5 litres of oil being used equally between them.  Also, my long stroke 750 A65 which was carrying just about all the camping gear was more economical than Chris's Flash with about 70 mpg being realised.
So now to look forward to the next time.

Dave.

Glad to read you both got back home safe and sound.
On our late-night return from our Saturday excursion, we found a very wet floppy tent.
We were drowned rats, well one rat and a squirrell!
Fortunately, we could just dump it all in the van Sunday Morning.
