Piston rings
« on: 31 March, 2024, 10:41:10 »
I’m fitting new pistons and rings (A65)and read in the manual that the middle ring is tapered marked with a T and this should face up.
Now I am following assembly as it shows on each ring packet and the middle ring is definitely not tapered but does have the word Top on one side. The top ring which seems to be ever so slightly tapered on both sides has what I would describe as a line inside a circle. These are Hepolite pistons and rings.
I want to check before I make a mistake.

I would imagine that any sort of markings on the lands would indicate ' top'

Same. This is the rule of thumb for who ever makes the rings.

Well I’ve researched it and pretty sure I’ve installed them correctly. I’m much less confident than I used to be. Old age doesn’t always bring wisdom ;D
