I hae been along to the S Linc's meeting at quite a nice venue and met up with the members who are very keen on the event being in their area and have agreed to try out and possible venues for the ride out on the Saturday of the Open Day weekend. I got a good positive vibes from these lads, with some good ideas  on where to visit, to make it interesting.
I also visited the Rugby club, who seemed very keen on helping us out with various things. I was shown around the club house, which is a new build, I met with the young lady Peppa, that does the catering, who assures me she is capable of catering for at least 120 people, Peter, who I have been dealing with on the rugby club side took me and shown me thge changing rooms and showers etc, there is seperate shower rooms with toilets, Ladies and mens. I looked outside to see where we might have the camping area and although it's rather exposed to the ellements, (very windy and cold on the day I visited) I think at the end of  May it should be okay. There is a serices area close by with a Marston pub that serves meals also, should anyone require something  different.
I have asked the S Linc's branch to have a look at the venue to give their opinions and let me know what they think.
Subject to booking everything seems to be falling in place.

Hi John,

Many thanks for your efforts with finding a venue.

Just a couple of questions if that's ok?

Is there adequate security? such as gates (much like market harborough had) which will be closed at night time.

Also, will the caterers be happy if they only get a hand full of people attending for meals? I think part of the reason that market harborough didn't want us back was because there were so few people having meals that it wasn't worth firing the grill and much the same for the bar. In previous years we always kept the bar and the catering going and we were made very welcome. I wouldn't want us to promise something that we can't deliver with regards numbers.

Wotcha.

I, for one, will be making very good use of both the catering and the bar  ;D

There are gates which in normal circustance would be locked, although I really don't think that there will be any need to have them locked but I feel sure that we can arrange this nearer the date, there is a travellers camp close by but have never been any problem apparently.

We weren;t kicked out of Mkt Harborough, the only reason we could not go back there was due to a great deal of improvements to the lighting, drainage of the pitches, and other ongoing work to improve the site. Nothing to do with the lack of support of the catering staff, or lack of use at the bar, in fact Garry complimented us for the support we provided for the club.
Just thoought I would clarify that point.
Kind regards John.

That's fair John, the feedback I got from the catering staff was that it wasn't worth turning the grills on - that was the last time we were there. Anyway. That's water under the bridge.

I'll only be able to make the Friday and Saturday this year however I am very much looking forward to it!
