I am at a stage where I am thinking of getting my a10 barrels relined. Has anyone had this done and know where best place to have it done. I live in central Scotland and am having trouble finding someone to tackle this job.

Had mine done by SRM a few years back - blasted and painted, lipped liners fitted, bored pistons supplied. Perfect job, had to wait a bit for t to be done.

I used Matts Machine Shop in Abercynon (back page of Old Bike Mart advert) for a cylinder head recon, blasted, painted, valves, guides, hard exhaust seats, again a perfect job but again had to wait a bit for it to be done.

I've mentioned them previously, as I dealt with them through a work connection:

I had cause to visit Westwoods for my son, they have a very large inventory and the shelves were well stocked, they were very knowledgeable

 :) :) :) :)

Did you buy stock linings or have them made. Just for interest did you need to put them in the freezer prior to fitting or was it a good interference fit.

mine was for the DB500 so only the one . I bought it from Phil Pearson along with a crank and many other rebuild parts . He gave me advice as to fitting . Heat up the old cylinder and push it 10mm out .  Cut off the top of the cylinder and push it out from the top out the bottom  . This is because it is thicker metal at the top end as the bottom is tapered . Reheat the alloy cylinder and press in the cold , not frozen , liner . Keep the pressure on till everything has cooled down . This is because you can get back creep of the cylinder until it is cool . As for fit it was quite a tight fit and did need a press to fit it . All went great needed boring to the supplied piston and has ron perfect ever since .

I've just had the liners on my A65 replaced to accept standard pistons.  The work was carried out by T&L Engineering Bedford.  They also supplied the new pistons and gapped the rings ready to re-assemble.  A bit far away from you but I think they'll do a postal service if you get stuck.  Rob

I have had several jobs done at T&L. No complaints. Yes they do a postal service.

Happy New Year. However remember.

The New Year only brings January. From here on its up to you.

The guys at Loch Ness Restorations are very helpful and may be able to advise on someone a bit nearer to you
