Hi new addition Swing arm B33 please what is this clutch and how do I remove this part , do I need a puller for the centre

SamNorwich69

Here's the friction plate centre

Roy

Looks like a Suzuki type clutch conversion for the bsa

SamNorwich69

Cheers Roy , it's got a alloy gear wheel but does the original centre just pull off the gearbox shaft

SamNorwich69

Hi people could I put an original clutch back on has anyone got one please
And does the original clutch splined collar just pull off as it seems stuck on

The vast majority of people nowadays are junking the original 6-spring clutch as they are all getting a bit tired now and can be fiddly to set up properly.  Having s  as I'd that I have two machines where they are ok particularly with decent gearbox.
The Pearson Suzuki or NEB are exotic mods.
Triumph 3 or 4 spring conversions are popular and less expensive (still not cheap).
What is wrong with the one you have now?

SamNorwich69

I am worried about the alloy gear wheel and it's durability can you tell me what this pipe is for coming out of the engine casing please LHS  btw

SamNorwich69

Plus I guess the chain is not as original I would like to replace when I check it's bend over full length it looks worn

SamNorwich69

Hi Neil, is this a Pearson clutch ?

It looks like you have the 4 spring clutch hub on your conversion, so I believe part no. 61-1912 (Clutch Hub Puller) would be required as the mainshaft is tapered along with being keyed.

The pipes in your picture are (upper shiny one) oil return from cylinder head and lower one with rubber pipe attached is engine breather. You must have an early engine there, because on later B engines, the breather was on the outer timing cover.

SamNorwich69

Hi , fitting belt conversion , selling the clutch if anyone wants it
Any ideas about the engine breather pipe as it drops oil all the time even when the bike isn't running but only when the bike is on the side stand please help lol

neil1964

Isn't that brass feed used as an oiler for the rear chain?
What does your timing cover look correct?
Whose belt drive are you using?  Is it new and spec'd for your machine?
I hear mixed reviews, have contemplated but not tried. Not sure if it is a Pearson as I've not seen one fully stripped down before.

SamNorwich69

If it's a Pearson let me know , I can add more photos if people are interested

Roy

Genuinely speaking, the clutch you have are very good and work exceptionally well , alloy sprocket is fine as Long as the sprockets and chain is running perfectly in line if not it will ware out spkt in very quick time ,
( a great deal of racing rear wheel sprockets are alloy and last hell of a long time )
The clutch Center on your bike looks like a std bsa 4 spring clutch type ,
The breather pipe on the drive side was ditched for that reason ,( oil)  it went to timing cover ,that alone had at least 3x modifications to help keep oil in and breath at same time ,it all good fun if you don't weaken 😊
