It appears that you have to book your accommodation directly with the campsite.

Hi,

Definitely an opportunity to maximise the experience.  A Troll themed tour also looks attractive especially the Trollstigen.

Hi.
Am keen to ride to the Rally.
Anyone worked out logistics?
Am thinking of ferry from north Denmark to Frederikstad area on way out.
Potential then to travel back via Finland etc.

DAVE BRADY

Hi,

When you say the Finland area are you considering coming back via the Baltic states?  That would be a great ride of about 2654 miles after the rally but add on a bit of deviation from a fairly direct route and it will be over 3000 miles.
Alternative could be to ride to Nordkapp at top of Norway. Travelling up through Sweden and back through Norway to get the ferry across to Denmark from Kristiansand to ride back to the Hook of Holland or Europort for the ferry  Probably a few hundred miles more but perhaps more enjoyable due to the amazing landscape of Norway.

Hi,

I'm looking forward to my first Rally on my BSA.

Been looking at routes and think for me it's going to be: Hull to Hook of Holland then up to Hirtshals in Denmark Ferry to Kristiansand.  I'm looking at going to Lysebotn, before stricking out for Fredristad via nomeland and Oslo.

Kristiansand to Lysebotn youtube clip.:

Back I'm thinking of returning through Sweden and Denmark Via Copenhagen.  Will depend on the time I have I suspect I won't be able to do everything either way it's going to be a good old ride on the old Beezer.

Hi Jason,

A great clip that should encourage others to venture to Norway.  Even if the very twisty/steep roads seem a bit daunting just about every road in Norway is enjoyable to ride and the scenery is constantly changing and spectacular.
Our BSAs are ideally suited to this kind if riding as top speed is irrelevant and with a speed limit of 50mph the roads and views can be enjoyed along with feeling as 'one' with your bike.

Hi,

It is worth comparing P&O Hull to Europort and Stena Harwich to Hook of Holland.

Hook is on the better, northern side of the docks and so the Rotterdam ring road is easy to avoid when heading north.  Europort on the southern side means negotiating the Rotterdam ring road to get to a northern route.  So H of H saves a few miles and a lot of stress

P&O from Hull may be nearest but look at Stena from Harwich as they have 10% motorcycle discount and seems to be bit cheaper anyway as it is a shorter crossing.

I used P&O to Holland last year but on boarding became aware of my mistake.

They are not getting another penny off me, I like to sleep at night.

When are folks planning on striking out form the UK? I'm looking at leaving for Norway evening of the 14th August on a late evening Sailing probably from Hull to save a days holiday.

Hi Jason,

If you are still planning on going to Lysebotn on the way, you may be a bit pushed for time.  The ferry from Denmark to Norway will probably take 4hrs out of your riding time.  Have you calculated the mileage?

Dave.

Hi Dave,

Worked out it an Iron Butt situation, its 1,145k Ride and Ferry from Rotterdam to Kristiansand then at least 3 hours ride to Lysebotn, then there the small matter of another 400k to Fredrikstad. May not be doable in 3 days on a Beezer. Besides getting down to the Ffjord at lysebotn may be the easy part getting back out might be a challenge.
