How does everyone torque their cylinder barrel nuts? I can only get an open ended spanner on them. Do people have an old spanner welded onto a socket to achieve this?, and if so are there any re-calculations involved?

In the above equation it has 12x3 as = 15. Now Im terrible at Math so can someone explain why the answer isn't 36?

chrisx1

12 x 30 divided by 12 x 3 = 10
I've tried doing this calculation different ways but the answer always comes out at 10 not 24

chrisx1

unless you type in 12x30divided by 12x3 then the answer is 90
I always wanted to be good at Math
someone please explain, I can't get 24 what ever I do

It is not written very well on the service sheet. Go back to where it says "How to calculate"

That is a fraction.

The next bit "The above represents"  It is also a fraction, the numerator, the top bit is written correctly as 12 x 30 but the denominator, the bottom bit is written incorrectly and should read 12 + 3 (not 12 x 3). They have also put in a second equals sign which makes it even more confusing, so ignore that second equals sign and you get the fraction 360/15=24.

I now religeously use a totque wrench. I'm not sure why this is so as for many many years I never knew they existed. I dont recall ever having a problem.
