Magdyno seal port. Is that regular size? I have seen them smaller on videos...

The magdyno oil seal area was somehow worn larger and oval on my B31 too. I managed to sort it by fitting a seal with a larger outer dimension and generous use of silicone sealant. The trick is then to make sure the magdyno pinion meshes naturally with the idler pinion whilst at the same time is central to the new oil seal.

Wotcha.

That looks like it should have a distributor fitted, rather than a mag / dyno.   I had to enlarge the hole on my B33 before fitting the distributor.

Dan_B33

Not sure yet what is distributor. Looks like You are right!
Especially with when you see the picture bellow.
What is detailed name for the distributor? Type model make? I bet they were not fitted in Plunger frames, right?

I can't see what year your B33 is.
Alternator models didn't have fully machined mag platform, opened out timing case (like yours) and fatter alternator chaincase.
If you want to fit a magdyno then you would need to machine up a shallow top hat plate seal holder.
A version that works in the same way that the rear seal behind the clutch will work well. So you can set the backlash of the timing gear (shim/skim the platform) then fit the seal plate to the case with gasket and goo (slotted holes) then tighten the screws with nuts and star washers?

Hi Neil,,
Thanks for advise. Good hint to adopt solution from the clutch side. Engine case number was butchered and re-stamped. Date stamps on the timing side indicate 1958. I have not seen distributors after googling it...

Here there are cams . One is stamped but the exhaust one has no marks ...
Look like standard B33/B31/M20/M33 cams. They often have"A2" marked on them or no marking at all.

Ufff for the cams! Thanks!
How abou Magneto? Is that Lucas k1f? Or what is that distributor?
I will most likely adopt to my Lucas M01 (gives fat spark even slow rotation by hand).
Would be nice to have idea what was goin with that engine ...

I can't find anything on Google either.  The part number for the distributor is 42-119 . . . but that doesn't throw anything up on Google either.
I've just been out and taken a photograph of the distributor on my 1959 alternator B31 . . .  so your engine number indicating 1958 could well be an alternator model.

Dan_B33

Looks like my engine was taken from that kind of a version ...
Anyway I will stay with MagDyno. Just need to buy missing bits : plate star and fibre pinion (gear).

Big end will go to the machine shop.
I guess that plate makes oil splash, right?

Looks like the big end has received attention already as that screw is new.  Yes the oil flinger is correct on the mainshaft.
Is there play or roughness in the big end?
What were the mains like?

Dan_B33

Hello, overall big end in a good shape no play nowhere. One thing to correct is small end bush I think there layed main problem and oil was not reaching the inside....might have caused issue . Bearings by Hoffman and one some Japanese . Looking for replacement locally I might get the bigger one which is like N305....problematic might be the one with braz basket....might get it from UK

And pic of Japanese....open just from one side....smart wet sum oil won't flow to the primary case....I guess?
