I admit the sump plate is homemade, but I believe the gauze is original as they do look as if they were made in a shed!! Just check out BSA part no. 65-2623.

Let's be quite honest, it's only there to stop bits of piston rings from fouling the oil pump.  Grains of sand will pass straight through the mesh and the oil pump with no problem.

Isn't that a hi precision expanded reservoir to maintain optimum oil distribution.

Looking forwards to more hi tech mods and repairs!

Oil leaks?
Not from primary chain case!
Oil change is for losers....Just be patient and run oil turns to a gelly mixture wit a time .
You won't get any leaks.

Previous owner might have used a mix of grease and oil to minimise leaks ?

Hi,

Imagine if that groil had found its way on to the clutch plates!!
I suppose it could be that a previous owner had difficulty in getting the right parts or maybe could not afford them.  At least now the bike will be getting the attention it needs.

Dave.

Dan_B33

All that and more per my understanding is that bike was put together at low costs.
Just to make it running...not much. To get the most out of the asking price whatever it was at the time.

See the copper banjo to provide fuel??

Carb is monoblock Amal 376/83 ....

I have more but have to post in doses...
