Hi All,
I am having problems getting my 1965 a65 lightning running nicely on tickover. It’s recently had a rebore and new pistons. It has a Pazon ignition, setup with a strobe using a mark set by the crank locking tool. I have twin monoblock carbs which have been thoroughly cleaned and cross drillings holes checked to make sure they are clear. I’m using 270 main jet, 3 slide, needle in position 3,106 needle jet, 25 pilot jet. Carb mating faces are flat with no air leaks. Bike runs fine except on tickover. It seems that when you blip the throttle the revs take a long time to drop when throttle is closed. Adjusting the pilot mixture screws seems to make little difference. Cables have slack and adjusted to lift equally. Slide resting positions adjusted using steel rods.
I’m just wondering what other settings people are running with on modern fuel. It almost seems like an air leak when the revs won’t drop straight away. Valves and stems are in good condition.
I’m thinking of trying some slides with bigger cutaways, perhaps there is not enough Venturi draw with the number 3 slides. It’s frustrating as the bike pulls your arms off on full chat.
Any ideas greatfully received.
