Hi.

If you are contemplating buying an Indian tank you might consider doing what I did. In order to get a perfect paint match I bought a half litre of the same paint spec from the supplier. They were perfectly happy to oblige.

Good idea Mike
What type of paint do they use, please?

I think they sent me Two Pack. But not positive because I just gave it straight to the spray man. It may have been straight Cellulose/

I had a word with the spray man, and to my surprise its almost four years ago last time I did this and he thinks it was synthetic. Doubtful if they would have been allowed to simply post anything else in a tin, Aerosol would have been ok but not a tin because of pressure changes. Dont know outside my pay grade. In truth I would come down in favour of synthetic.

Hi,

I am considering buying an Indian-made tank for my A10. I would be interested to know which supplier you used and whether were you happy with the overall quality.

I got a metal tank for my B25 through "vintageinternational.us" on Ebay. Would I recommend them? Well, the tank does hold gas, and the petcock bungs swapped over from the old tank for my new petcocks without a problem. Soooooooooo, the tank does its basic job, as it's supposed to. Also, it did come with a brand new gas cap! I was surprised when that came out of the box.

That said, the paint is garbage. It's not even close to Nutley Blue/Ivory. I didn't even spill gas on it, and the paint under the gas cap wrinkled all up on the first day. It's not a big deal to me because I already bought the correct paint. I'm stripping all the garbage paint off first though. If I had to do it again, I'd buy a bare tank and save me the stripping job.

I got all my tanks from pummey 13 I think that was his name.

I also bought an Indian tank for my A7, from Pummy, I managed to deal with him and knocked him down on the price quite a bit, I was very pleased with it when it arrived, all ready to fit but I had to clean out the petrol tap holes as they were full of paint residue etc, the only thing I could fault it with was the knee pad position, which I managed to sort out.

I am taking my tank to my local car painters to get the tank couler matched by camera. They then  get me the paint from there supplier. I get the paint in a spray can. I am painting the rest of the bike with the spray cans, you can get a lovely finish with cans if you take your time and put plenty of paint on. I will post about it as i go. I hate the term rattle can, it cheapens the job.
