A65 rear brake lincage
« on: 23 February, 2023, 15:12:18 »
 :) :) :) :)

Greetings gentlemen of the BSAOC fraternity. Assistance please.

Hopefully some pics arrive wih this post.

Where does the brake activating rod run. Above the level of the swin arm as per the pic and inside the rear shock. Or is it supposed to run below the level and parrallel to the arm.

Further please. Thinking in terms of a clock face, where should the activating lever be in relation to the end of the spindle. I think it should be at about 10 oclock but cant remember and cant find a picture. I dont have the tie rod/bar at the moment so I cant use that to compare.

Thank you

Hi again.

I'm noy sure that I have the correct brake plate tie rod. How long should it be Centre to centre.

5.75 inches between centres.

Same part used on 1960 on A10 and cable and full width hub rod brake A50/A65.

The lug for it on the swinging arm was in a different position for the cable brake model and the full width hub rod brake bikes. 10 11/16 inch centre of lug to centre of swinging arm pivot for cable and 9 11/16 inch for rod brake version.

Hi Julian.

Thanks again. I know I have the wrong Swining arm so whilst it ll fits together and the chain runs clean etc. I have a bit of modifying to do. Getting that particular part correctly positioned sets the positioning for the whole brake assembly, so thats now OK

Hi Again.

Would it be possible for you to post for me a pic a bit further back of the whole of the brake drum as fitted.

Many thanks

Mike

Hiya.

Thank you very much. Now I'm fully upsides with it. I've done it oten enough, but for some obscure reason it wasn't making sense. Might be an age thing.
