Can anyone tell me at what I should initially set the timing chest oil regulation valve?

I also need the control spindle "key" 27-1427 if anyone has a spare.

The BMS book of the BSA gives the initial setting at 1/2 to one turn out from seated. I struggled to get good oil pressure at any setting and found that the ball bearing in the pressure valve was pitted. This is sealed with soft solder. Early models were set at 5psi and later ones at 10psi. BSA recommended fitting the later type in a service bulletin.
I rebuilt mine and set it to 10. Pressure problems resolved!

Many thanks BRM. I take it that the pressure valve is the item to the left and perpendicular to the regulator valve?

Yes. Secured with a lock nut.
Just had a look through my spares. Can't help you with the adjuster knob.
